Fort Building: Creating Spaces for Imagination

About this event

This is a drop-in fort-building open house intended for children ages 3-10. All children must be accompanied by a caregiver.

With a few simple materials you can create a structure your little one can safely get lost in! This fort building workshop led by Kaija Marshall goes into the mechanics of PVC pipes (inputs, outputs, and angles) and the basic structures needed to support fabrics and create a cozy hideaway. We’ll also dive into the architecture behind pretend play and how to encourage your child to find joy in creating their own space. Successful pretend play requires imagination, understanding, and feeling safe and secure in the real world.
